🎧 Tone in Noise Test: Find Your Masked Threshold

A burst of hissing noise plays, and on half of the rounds a very faint tone is buried inside it. When the noise stops you only have to say whether the tone was there. Each level pushes the tone deeper into the noise and pays more for catching it. Claiming you heard something that was not there costs exactly what catching it would have paid, so guessing averages out to nothing and only what you truly heard becomes score. It is the same signal-in-noise detection that decides how well you follow a conversation in a crowded room.
